Rina’s Venue is a private residence located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, completed in 2015. Designed as a contemporary home rooted in vernacular architectural principles, the residence combines exposed laterite masonry with sloping Mangalore-tiled roofs to create a warm and timeless architectural character. The design emphasizes climate-responsive planning through deep verandahs, shaded openings, naturally ventilated interiors, and landscaped courtyards that foster a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. A palette of locally sourced materials, timber detailing, terracotta roofing, and earthy finishes reinforces its contextual identity while ensuring thermal comfort and durability. Originally conceived as a private residence, the property has since been sensitively adapted into “Rina’s Venue,” a boutique event space that hosts intimate weddings, celebrations, and corporate gatherings, while retaining the charm and character of its original residential architecture.
