IIT Sanmar Pavilion is a landmark cricket pavilion located within the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), Chennai, and was completed in 1998. Sponsored by the Sanmar Group, the pavilion blends the charm of a traditional English cricket clubhouse with modern amenities, creating a world-class sporting facility within the Institute’s lush campus. The architecture is characterized by elegant pitched roofs, deep verandahs, exposed timber detailing, and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape, providing shaded viewing areas and comfortable player facilities. Designed to complement the iconic IIT-Chemplast cricket ground, the pavilion has hosted numerous domestic and international teams and remains a distinguished example of sports architecture that combines functionality, timeless aesthetics, and environmental sensitivity.
