The firm’s own office is situated next to the Bay of Bengal. An old residence was stripped bare and multiple windows were added to catch the sea breeze and natural light. An additional square mass was added to the existing C shaped structure creating a courtyard with a water body teeming with koi fish. A stone bridge accesses the Chief Architect’s office. The material palette has been kept tropical, in reminiscence of Mr. Geoffrey Bawa’s style. In fact it was Mr.Bawa who mentored the founding partner, Mr. A Venkat. The design is simple with teak wood joinery and flooring, stone and slate with white plastered walls and MS insulated roof to cut direct heat radiation in the terrace Cafeteria.
